12 Drinks Of Christmas: #6 The Boozehopper
This is a variation on the Grasshopper that we created back in the very early days of the website. Almost nobody was watching back then so there's a pretty good chance that none of you have seen this before! It uses our favorite Bailey's rival: Chocovine, and some green Creme de Menthe which we all have but rarely use.
The Boozehopper
2 oz Chocovine
1 oz Vodka
1 oz Green Creme De Menthe
Kahlua
At least 3 Grasshopper cookies
Alright people, I don't normally ask that much of you with the cocktail recipes but you've gotta trust me - this one is worth it. Step one is to crush up a few grasshopper cookies. (I got mine from Keebler but any chocolate covered mint cookies will do the trick) Step two is to pour some Kahlua in a bowl and dip your cocktail glass into it. Just enough to saturate a few millimeters of the glass.
Step three is to "dip" the kahlua covered rim into the crushed cookies.
If you want finish the drink right away you can but the best thing to do when rimming a glass is to allow the glass the chill for awhile. If you can't wait...then Step four is to add the Chocovine, Vodka, and Creme de Menthe to your shaker with some ice and do what you'd expect to do with a device called "Shaker".
Last but not least you need to float the final Grasshopper cookie on the surface of the drink. This is easier than it sounds as the cookie's surface-to-chocolate-ratio is roughly 4.5 which we all know is just enough to overcome the relative liquid density of the beverage we've created. Yes, I know none of that meant anything, but it's a damn cookie people...you'll be fine.
Several more drinks coming your way today so check back with us.
